Pinging my Oppo chums for help with important issues of the day. Our cable provider is an ungodly clusterfuck, having screwed up our bill for the last 4 months and requiring an hour-long call (or more) every month to unfuck the situation. Now considering a
satellite provider for TV, internet and voice but am not sure if satellite
service will compare to cable. Is sat TV still affected by weather?

Still affected by weather unfortunately. Have you considered one of the streaming options? My friend has had Direct TV Now for 6 months and really likes it. I have another friend who just signed up for YouTube TV so I’m waiting to hear his thoughts after a few months.

Satellite is affected by weather. But honestly ? Cable and satellite are overpriced and dying.

Had DirecTV for several years. It does have issues with heavy rain or snow.
We have SlingTV now. You can get pretty much all the same channels if you want to pay for them. It's through Dish Network, so there are some exclusives they don't have. ATT might also offer a streaming cable package even if you don't have them for internet service.

Cable is bad. Satellite is worse.

No reason to go satellite now as long as you have reliable internet. Even if you get that internet from the cable company, g enerally cable companies suck less when you only have internet from them and no TV.

My inlaws just dumped their satelite TV - expensive, couldn’t get “local” channels, cut out in rain or snow. They ended up just getting one of those powered digital antennas and putting it up in the attic.
